Drexler Middle School leadership class created a competition for DMS Bobcat Time classes to bring in the most toiletries for our bobcat community in need. This will impact our Bobcat Family by providing students with resources that they may not have access to at home. Good hygiene is important for middle school students for both physical and mental health, also to help them feel more comfortable and confident when at school and in public. Some of the things that the students were able to bring in are brand new hygiene products like toothbrushes, soaps, etc. The bobcat time that brings in the most items get the choice of a pizza party or doughnuts! Drexler Middle School’s Leadership Classes are hosting two events next week! First, we will be running a “Mobile Food Pantry” for the Western Dubuque Community on Wednesday, April 30th from 11:30-2:00. Items will be located on the west side of the building at Drexler Middle School to collect. There will be grocery items, clothing items, and free hot dogs, burgers and lemonade available at that time!
From April 28th to May 2nd, Drexler will also be running a "Toiletry Drive" where we are collecting new and unused items to give to students during the school year. The Bobcat Time Classes that can bring in the most items wins! List of items to be collected will be shared later in the shortly!

Happy Secretary's Day to our secretaries here at DMS! We would like to thank them for their dedication and hard work. We appreciate all they do for us! Thank you to Kim, Heather, and Amy!

The 6th grade students participated in a Breakout activity, similar to an escape room, in science class with a focus on cells. They applied their skills learned in class on organelles within plant and animal cells to solve logic puzzles and riddles to open locks.

On April 15th, Drexler had 8 students who performed at the Northeastern Iowa Choral Directors’ Association Honor Choir. There were 200 students overall there, and they were divided into 2 groups of 100 students each, who performed 4 songs per group. Even the directors had songs. They spent all day practicing their songs, so then at 7:00 pm they performed live for the public. (written by Journalism students: Kinze Ernst and Lyla Schipper)

The 6th grade students enjoyed a few minutes of fresh air today during language arts and were able to make some little friends on the playground!
