May 15 – Last day for seniors
May 16 – Graduation practice for seniors
May 21 – Last day for 3-day preschool (1-hour early dismissal)
May 22 – Last day for 4-day preschool
May 23 – Last day for TK–11th grade students (2-hour early dismissal)

Preschool Pre-registration for the 2025-2026 school year begins Monday, January 6, 2025, at 12:00 PM.
To enhance your chances of securing a spot before the official registration window opens on February 10, complete the pre-registration form on the Early Childhood page of the District website:

Spots will be filled based on the time stamp of the submitted form. A district official will follow up with next steps.

School board members visited EES today to learn from the literacy leadership team! Teachers shared insights on the science of reading, specifically, UFLI—a targeted phonics instruction framework. Through this collaborative partnership, we are continuing to be better every day.
Each day students (K-5) have the opportunity to participate in Number Corner. During this time they learn a variety of skills tied to past or future math lessons. Today this group of first grade students learned about shapes, time, days of school, writing the date, odd/even numbers, and work with groups of ten. Students are certainly living out our district value of 'Continual Growth' through this process. #wdbqschools

Today, Western Dubuque Schools hosted local legislators and legislative candidates at WDHS, EES, and CJSHS. These visits offered lawmakers a firsthand look at the successes and challenges within our schools and an opportunity to engage directly with our staff and students. It's National School Bus Safety Week! Our incredible transportation team hauls our most precious cargo across 555 square miles daily in #wdbqschools. We rely on the dedication of 40 drivers, 15 substitutes, 3 mechanics, 1 director, 1 assistant director, and 1 transportation secretary to safely operate 31 morning routes and 34 afternoon routes, covering 1,931.5 miles every day.
With 2,356 students transported daily, we couldn't be more grateful for their steadfast commitment to safety and excellence. Let's take a moment to thank them for their hard work and remind ourselves to prioritize bus safety every day!
Local legislators and candidates connected to the Western Dubuque School District have been invited to visit our schools and engage with students and staff on Friday, October 25. We’re proud to welcome seven lawmakers who will join us at Western Dubuque High School, Epworth Elementary, and Cascade Junior/Senior High for meaningful conversations and firsthand experiences.
